Discovering Bendor Island

Last week I had the privilege of visiting one of the most exciting hotel projects currently underway in the South of France: the private island of Bendor. Before diving into the project itself, a little context.

Bendor is a small island located just off the town of Bandol — famous for its bold red wines — on the Mediterranean coast. Legend has it that the island once served as a refuge for pirates, although being within swimming distance of the mainland, that may well be more myth than reality. Historically, it was used for the cultivation of narcissus and immortelle flowers for medicinal purposes until the 19th century.
