CORSICA

Corsica is a diverse and gorgeous island in the Mediterranean, which has been “often conquered, but never subdued”, having been successively Pisan, Genovese and now French since 1768. The Mediterranean’s fourth smallest island is rich in diversity of its scenery and rugged natural beauty, with much of the island preserved from aggressive development, making it one of the rare pearls of the Mediterranean sea.

T

he places of interest to visit in Corsica are numerous considering the island's small size, being just 183 km long and 85 km wide in its broadest part, it is the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean.

France's "Île de Beauté" (Island of Beauty), rises dramatically from the Mediterranean sea with countless inland activities as well as beaches to explore. This rugged paradise, lying north of Sardinia and south of the French Riviera, offers an intoxicating blend of pristine sand beaches, soaring jagged peaks, medieval citadels and a fiercely independent culture that sets it apart from mainland France. Prepare to slow down and breathe in the Corsican way of life.

Highlights include the wild turquoise beaches of Santa Guilia to the breathe-taking cliff top marvel of Bonifacio. Founded around 830 CE, this fortified citadel offers breathtaking views and medieval history across the straits to Sardinia, just a short 13 kilometres away.

Ajaccio, the birthplace of Napolean and Corsica's capital, combines laid-back charm, colorful squares brimming with seasonal produce markets and a rich historical culture. Visit Napolean's former childhood home, which is a fascinating national museum or explore the Palais Fesch-Musée des Beaux-Arts, housing one of France's finest collections of Italian Renaissance art. Stroll along the city's long sandy beach, or enjoy our arranged private boat trip to the Sanguinaires Archipelago or the dramatic Calanques de Piana.

On the southeast coast, the resort town of Porto-Vecchio serves as the gateway to some of Corsica's most beautiful beaches. The 16th-century citadel and Old Town sit atop a hill, while below, a modern marina buzzes with yachts and waterfront restaurants.

For the most beautiful monuments, be sure to include the colorful port city of Bastia rich in history. While Calvi offers baroque history and architecture combined with a stunning, natural setting on the turquoise coast.

Corsica is only a quick trip from mainland South of France via boat or plane with four airports available throughout the island. We often charter yachts and private planes, but the most extraordinary views of this gorgeous Mediterranean island are via helicopter.

Whether it's a daytrip via helicopter, or private plane or all-inclusive yacht with chef you desire for the week...we will make your time in Corsica magical. From its pristine turquoise waters, to its beautifully rugged treks and landscapes, you'll discover this hidden gem in style.
