he striking modernist architecture of the Maybourne Riviera emerges from the rocky peninsula of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin as if forging its way into the glistening Mediterranean Sea. Dramatic views of the coastline take in Italy to the east, Monte Carlo to the west, all bathed in brilliant light. The setting is unrivalled, the never-ending sea and sky viewed from every room, and as you step out into the warm, saltwater breeze, all it takes is a moment to softly slip into Riviera time. The inspirational light of the Mediterranean is present in every space with the huge windows offering incredible views. The decoration is minimalist, with contemporary artworks throughout. Not satisfied with having just one internationally acclaimed Chef for their dining, they have two with Mauro Collagreco and Jean-Georges Vongerichten across 3 restaurants and a beach club. The Spa was yet to be opened when we visited, but will be an André Fu-designed spa and we have no doubts as to its quality!
The hotel is situated overlooking Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Monaco, both can be easily reached with the hotel’s private shuttle. From the hotel, you can discover the beauty of the French Riviera, Nice is just 35 minutes away, Eze a mere 15 so as a base for discovery despite it being one of the more Easterly positioned hotels, it is a very good choice.
When we first visited and stayed at the Maybourne Riviera we were speechless. This ultra-modern hotel offering views over the Mediterranean taking in Italy, Monaco and France where even the smallest room is unique in its generous sizing and the biggest is a unique luxury experience in itself, and every room offering views of azur blue sky and sea as standard is unlike anything we had experienced in luxury hotels on the French Riviera.
This is without a doubt going to become one of the French Riviera icons, a place to add to any bucket list when on the Côte d’Azur.
