July in Burgundy
WHY
The hotels in Burgundy have never matched the quality of its revered wines. That’s finally changing with the arrival of not one but two new properties (like buses, they always appear in bunches). Details At the heart of Côte de Nuits, half of Burgundy’s famed Côte d’Or wine region, is Les Sources deVougeot (opening in March), with a spa in its stone cellar operated by Caudalie. Even bigger news is the opening of Château de la Commaraine, a sister to the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa, both of which are owned by American Francophile Denise Dupré. She has transformed a 12th-century chateau into a five-star hotel (with a pool and spa) with its own seven acres of Pommard Premier Cru. Look out for the wine she’s making there herself.
